4 million state grant the future 20000-square-feet facility is one factor in Tennessee’s successful bid to land major energy companies. The CHET building was prompted by the decision by Hemlock Semiconductor LLC to build a $1. 2 billion manufacturing plant in Clarksville. The grant was awarded to Austin Peay for construction and development of a work force training curriculum geared toward the chemical processing industry. Austin Peay officials are working hand in hand with the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission to provide interested students an opportunity to earn an associate’s degree program in chemical engineering technology. University officials are hoping site construction will be complete by fall 2010.

Wastewater Plant May Get Federal Funds

WHEELING – City Manager Robert Herron plans to announce the details of a $1. 36 million wastewater improvement project during today’s City Council meeting. Albert King Campbell Wheeling’s superintendent for water pollution control is hoping the project to provide engineering design for several sewer separation projects will be funded with money from the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. “We are hoping to have (the project) paid for with stimulus money” Campbell said. Herron said Monday that he could not yet reveal the source of funding for the project as it would be announced during tonight’s meeting. According to an ordinance to be introduced this evening the city will enter into an agreement with CT Consultants Inc.

SKorean firms win 2.8 bln dlr Saudi orders

Daelim Industrial SK Engineering and Construction and Samsung Engineering said in regulatory filings they had signed the deal for the huge Jubail project with Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical (SATRP). SATRP is a joint venture between the state oil company Saudi Aramco and France’s Total. Daelim Industrial has won an 818-million-dollar order to build a plant to collect sulphur and acid gas for completion by February 2013. Samsung Engineering has obtained a combined 1. 6-billion-dollar order to construct two plants. It will complete a 700-million-dollar aromatics plant by August 2012 and a 900-million-dollar facility to produce naphtha by June 2013. Samsung said it won the 900-million-dollar order in a 50-50 partnership with Japan’s Chiyoda Corp.
