& FELLBACH Germany Apr 08 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) —-Dassault Systemes (DS) (Euronext Paris: #13065 DSY. PA) a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions today announced that KUKA Systems GmbH (Augsburg Germany) a manufacturer of automation solutions has committed to the DELMIA Automation solution for virtual commissioning of the production facilities that KUKA plans and builds. A technology leader in plant and systems engineering KUKA understands that it is important to invest in new technologies in order to stay ahead of the curve in developing innovative manufacturing process and facility concepts. Next to the geometrical validation it is increasingly important to digitally define control and monitor automated systems entirely in a 3D virtual environment. This cuts development time reduces costs in both manpower and capital investment and increases initial PLC program quality and overall factory productivity. The DELMIA Virtual Commissioning solution enables manufacturing engineers to link the virtual manufacturing model with the actual control system and robot controller. CB&I lays off 80 from its Island Park manufacturing plant in Beaumont
Beaumont Enterprise
Robert Foster a local labor analyst with Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas said he is a member of what’s called the Rapid Response Team which provides people who are laid off with a list of services they can get and information about unemployment insurance. As of Thursday afternoon Foster said the workforce center in Beaumont had not received any inquiries from CB&I employees. Recent layoffs in Southeast Texas have included the Equistar chemical plant in Beaumont which has been idle since Hurricane Ike struck. More than 70 workers lost their jobs when Equistar decided not to reopen the plant. American Valve & Hydrant announced it was reducing staff by more than 30 in January in response to poor economic conditions related to the real estate market. Much of the manufacturer’s product went to Florida particularly during the boom years of 2005-06. Florida real estate was hit hard by the real estate meltdown because of bad mortgages.

My judgment is that the right number is probably in the middle. I doubt we need a factor of 10 rise. President bama’s plant for $15 billion a year over the next decade in the U. is as good a judgment as any. Is climate change the prime issue of our time? Before I was appointed I was saying that the intersection of energy climate and the economy is one of the greatest challenges of our time. bviously another is avoiding blowing up substantial chunks of our society and others with nuclear weapons….

hio EPA updates council
The Review
A November letter to Joseph Trocchio EPA environmental engineer from William Boyle of GGJ was presented for the committee’s review. In his letter Boyle responded to concerns voiced by Trocchio about overflows at the sewage plant currently operated by United Water. He advised that over the past eight years the village has spent about $4 million in upgrading its sanitary sewer collection system and wastewater treatment plant all of which were approved by the EPA. A lengthy list of improvements was included in the letter for both the collection system and plant with Boyle noting “As you can see the village has not set idle on upgrading and (maintaining) their existing infrastructure. “Boyle also said the village had done extensive flow monitoring to try to find the areas responsible for excessive flows with some of the improvements earmarked for those areas. Saying the village has demonstrated its desire to correct the situation Boyle pointed out it acquired STAG funding from the federal government for these types of projects but that the US EPA has had those funds frozen for three years while questions about documentation of fund use has been sought.

Marseilles: Demolition marks sewer plant progress
MyWebTimes.com
com 815-431-4063Another milepost in the renovation of Marseilles’ sewage treatment facilities is the demolition of both the Depression-era raw sewage treatment building constructed in 1938 and an attached 1968 building used to “bar screen” sewage. “The reason they’re being torn down is basically they’re structurally unsound” said Don Christensen the plant supervisor. American Demolition Corporation of Elgin started the three-day job Wednesday. The building could actually be knocked down in a couple of hours explained Jeremy Norton Baxter-Woodman Engineering’s resident project representative. But part of the job is to salvage equipment wire and scrap metal from the structure. The first item to be removed was a concrete ornament from over the main door of the older building which will be incorporated into an entry display for the treatment grounds.
