Tri-State a rural electricity cooperative is based in Westminster. Environmentalists has criticized the company for relying too much on coal-fired power plants. But Tuesday the company said it will help build the “Cimarron | Solar Project” a 500000-panel solar photovoltaic power plant in northeastern New Mexico. The plant will be on 250 acres between Cimarron and Springer in the service territory of Springer Electric Cooperative a member of Tri-State’s association. “Tri-State is committed to renewable energy in our resource planning that brings value to our member cooperatives across the four states we serve” Ken Anderson Tri-State’s general manager and executive vice president said in a news release. “It’s noteworthy that Tri-State’s first utility-scale renewable energy project will be among the largest solar photovoltaic projects in the world. ”Tri-State will partner with First Solar Inc.

Schroeder will succeed Pfeil as vice president of engineering. He will oversee all aspects of engineering for the company including design construction and commissioning of plant facilities and equipment plant engineering and maintenance as well as environmental engineering. Schroeder started his career with Hormel Foods in 1984 at the Fremont Plant were he held a number of supervisory positions. In 1990 he became plant engineer at the Beloit (Wis. ) Plant and in 1994 assumed the role as manager of plant engineering at the Austin Plant. In 1998 he was promoted to special assignments engineer and then to manager of corporate engineering projects at the corporate office.

The light plant was named a Reliable Public Power Provider by the American Public Power Association. Sixty other municipal plants around the country received the award which is given for providing consumers with electric service that is highly reliable and safe. The association represents more than 2000 public power utilities serving 45 million customers in the United States. Plants? reliability safety work-force development and system improvements are assessed.

says due to the on-going slow down in the automotive industry the Bourns Automotive Division will consolidate its manufacturing operations worldwide and close its Janesville Wisconsin plant. The plant manufactures sensor components for automotive customers on three continents. It also hosts the North American engineering and research and development activities for the Bourns Automotive Division. According to Bourns the Janesville plant employs 148 workers. The company will transfer the plant's production to other Bourns automotive facilities in Mexico and Hungary. Bourns North American engineering and research and development activities will be transferred to a Bourns facility in Michigan.
