Somonauk moves ahead with water plant design

com 815-431-4049The Somonauk Village Board is moving ahead with plans to update its water treatment plant. During its meeting Wednesday the board approved a bid of $166000 that will cover the design and engineering for a new treatment plant. The village’s engineering firm Smith Engineering will oversee the project. The architectural designs will be created by Direct Design with offices in the Chicago suburbs. Work on the new plant cannot begin until the water tower is complete. Due to recent inclement weather completion of the new tower has been delayed.

6 million euros ($113. 6 million) contract to an Italian-Chinese consortium to carry out environmental upgrades. Under the deal the consortium of Italy’s engineering company Idreco and China’s Insigma Technology will build desulphurisation installations at two units of the 1450 megawatt coal-fired plant by 2011.
