In its latest report on Iran the InternationalAtomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also said that Tehran had 3500 centrifugesoperating at its Natanz facility. The IAEA said it had not been given access to Iranian sites it had asked tosee last month. It has pressed Tehran for answers after Western intelligencealleged that Iran had covertly studied how to design atomic bombs. Iran hasdismissed the intelligence as baseless forged or irrelevant. Gregory Schulte the US envoy to the IAEA said in response to the report:“Iran continues to rebuff the IAEA’s efforts to investigate troublingindications that it has engaged in studies engineering work and procurementrelevant to building nuclear weapons. BHEL secures Rs 11.50 bn turnkey contract for captive power plant

Significantly this is the largest value single order secured by BHEL for a captive power plant the company said. The 153 MW gas turbine based combined cycle power plant will meet the power and process steam requirement of the upcoming refinery and is slated for commissioning in a tight schedule of 30 months it added. BHELs scope of work in the project envisages design engineering manufacture supply erection and commissioning of the captive power plant in addition to complete civil works. The equiment for the project will be supplied by BHELs plants at Hyderabad Trichy Ranipet Bhopal Jhansi and Electronics Division Bangalore. Civil works and erection and commissioning of the captive power plant will be carried out by the companys Power Sector Northern Region. BHEL has emerged as the market leader in cogeneration and captive power plants offering units from 10 MW onwards for both steam turbine based and gas based combined cycle power projects for total power and process steam requirements of various industries. So far the company has supplied and commissioned more than 700 steam turbine and gas turbine based plants for a host of industries like metal paper sugar cement and process industries like refineries petrochemicals fertiliser etc.
