The project will be completed within a period of 39 months. L&T`s scope of work includes design engineering procurement supply erection testing and commissioning two streams of 1600 TPH Coal Handling Plant including civil structural electrical and instrumentation works. This involves construction of 7 km of belt conveyors supplying 2 stacker reclaimers 4 crushers and 4 paddle feeders including associated electromechanical equipment. Incidentally L&T constructed the coal handling plant of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Project Stage-1 which was successfully completed and put in to operation in 2002. L&T`s construction division secured three other contracts worth Rs 2260 million from Public Health & Municipal Engineering Department Government of Andhra Pradesh. The first of the three orders amounting to Rs 930 million for engineering procurement and construction of an underground drainage scheme for Nizamabad Township.

In Microbe Vast Power For Biofuel
Washington Post – Oct 18, 2007
“Congress is working to prime the cellulosic ethanol pump. The Senate version of the energy bill being considered would require the oil industry to use 21 billion gallons annually of “advanced biofuels” including cellulosic ethanol by 2022. A tax break would allow companies to deduct half the cost of a new plant in the first year of operation. And cellulosic ethanol would draw generous subsidies for oil refiners who mix it into their gasoline. Still many technological hurdles remain and much of the venture capital poured into the cellulosic ethanol industry is going into companies like SunEthanol that are searching for ways to make the manufacturing process more efficient and profitable. A key part of the challenge is figuring out how to better break down cellulosic material — such as cornstalks or wood chips — into ethanol. Many firms are trying to do that in two steps first breaking down cellulose into sugars and then fermenting sugars to produce ethanol for use in motor fuel… A key part of the challenge is figuring out how to better break down cellulosic material — such as cornstalks or wood chips — into ethanol. Many firms are trying to do that in two steps first breaking down cellulose into sugars and then fermenting sugars to produce ethanol for use in motor fuel. Many companies are genetically engineering enzymes to do the first task. Those enzymes tend to be expensive. n Monday Genencor a division of Danisco announced that it had developed a new product Accellerase 1000 that it said contains a combination of enzymes that reduces cellulosic biomass into fermentable sugars. "Lots and lots and lots of groups and companies are looking for new cellulases" or enzymes that process cellulose said J. Craig Venter who raced the federal government in mapping the human genome.

A Pilot’s History: Chap. 2 — California Base
AVweb – Oct 18, 2007
It may have been a poor place to get a promotion but it was a hell of a good place to learn about the latest aeronautical designs coming off the production lines! The aircraft included models from Lockheed Douglas North American Consolidated Boeing and Vultee plus the modification factories. Each manufacturer had its strong points and weak points. ur day-to-day work gave us a real education in aeronautical design engineering and craftsmanship. I had set a goal to be the best pilot I could be and to not pass up any chance to learn. We had Link Trainers for instrument flying which I used at every opportunity. I also posted maps across the windshield when cross-country flying with a co-pilot in a twin-engine or four-engine aircraft as I felt instrument flying might someday separate the men from the boys. Learn from the White Hairs… It was a great pleasure to drive the twin-boom P-38 with its service ceiling of 42000 feet and its long-range capability which was made possible by its wing tanks. The P-38 could carry the same bomb load as the four-engine B-17. After flying from the Pacific coast to Dallas nonstop at 38000 feet I was met at the modification plant by the chief pilot who announced a celebration at the plant and also at the Lockheed plant in California for setting a new speed record. (f course we knew speed records of this sort indicated only how good a tailwind was blowing. ) This particular time I had flown the F-5 a reconnaissance version of the P-38 without the guns and armor. It was lighter and faster than its heavier sisters. This plane also had improved engines and I was guilty of pushing it a little bit.

“Stancil’s studies confirm our own modeling and validate BIC’sevaluation of the need for this type of facility at Puerto Triunfo. Thisregion lacks oilseed crushing and processing capability even though it isone of the most prolific oilseed production regions in the world. Acombined crushing and biodiesel plant will provide value for both TexComand the region” stated Lou Ross C. Paraguay produces more than 6 million tons of soybeans annually and isdevoting more croplands to sunflower and canola… The planned facility will process 3000 metric tons of oilseed per dayyielding approximately 205000 metric tons (approximately 60 MillionGallons) of biodiesel and 790000 metric tons of soy meal pellets per year. Initial feedstock will consist mainly of soybeans that are grown in theimmediate area of the proposed production plant in the Provinces of Itapuaand Alto Parana. Preliminary engineering for the integrated facility is in progress. Pendingfinancial commitments negotiation of construction contracts and allnecessary approvals TexCom would begin construction of the facility bymid-2008. Abram Janz Chairman of BIC said “We approached TexCom some months agobecause of their experience in planning construction funding andoperating biodiesel plants. This outcome allows us to work as a team usingBIC’s international experience and business relationships in Paraguay withTexCom’s operational and project experience in order to develop this worldclass plant.

(Cultural and Linguistic) –>CPYRIGHT 2007 Cox Matthews & Associates It didn’t take long for Diana Ramirez a 23-year-old metallurgical engineering student from Mexico to play her language card. Last summer the senior at the University of Texas at El Paso worked at an 11-week internship at a General Motors castings plant in Defiance hio that turns out parts for cars. An alert went out that a sister GM plant in Toluca Mexico was having a production problem that had afflicted the hio factory earlier. Company officials from Mexico were on the phone asking for help. But they needed a Spanish speaker also fluent in engineering terms and knowledgeable about casting. Company officials from Mexico were on the phone asking for help. But they needed a Spanish speaker also fluent in engineering terms and knowledgeable about casting. GM put Ramirez on the line. “I was able to help” she says. In short order engine heads blocks and crankshafts were being churned out again. Being bilingual “is very helpful” says Ramirez who is set to graduate in December and hopes to be a U.
