“Hank” Haag 80 a field engineer in the Plant Engineering Department of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. died of lung cancer Aug. 31 at Washington Hospital Center. He lived in Silver Spring.
FormFactor investing US$200m in new Singapore plant

FormFactor is the world leader in producing wafer probe cards which are used by semiconductor manufacturers to electrically test integrated circuits. It is investing over US$200m in its new manufacturing plant in Singapore. The 300000-square-feet facility in Tampines will be the largest of its kind in the world. FormFactor is seeking to expand outside the US and it says the decision to set up shop in Singapore is strategic… The investment is seen as a boost for Singapore. Economic Development Board’s managing director Ko Kheng Hwa said: “This is the world’s number one wafer probe cards manufacturer and they’ve chosen Singapore to be their only other site outside their US home. This is the largest precision engineering investment project in Singapore to date.

Gazprom has put on hold its investment decision on the Baltic LNG project leaving little hope for its potential partners to be selected in the near future. n 20 September Gazprom’s management committee ordered improvements to be made to the pre-engineering study for the project. The study was prepared by the Baltic LNG company which unites Gazprom (80pc) and Russian shipping firm Sovcomflot (20pc). Petro-Canada and Halliburton’s engineering.
