article-tools –> Tony Grant-Taylor August 24 2007 12:00am PRESSURES hitting construction projects across the country have blown out the cost of Dyno Nobel’s planned Moranbah explosives plant and its opening will be delayed by six months or more. Dyno Nobel said yesterday the ammonium nitrate plant would cost significantly more than the original estimate of $520 million and production initially scheduled for late 2008 was now unlikely until the first half of 2009. "We are obviously very disappointed with the increased costs. which had been brought on by delays in detailed engineering increased project management costs increased costs for critical trades and labour and significant additional contingencies" chief executive Peter Richards said… is currently (still) under negotiation". Those negotiations are no doubt proving robust. However Mr Richards said until engineering design and the construction contracts were finalised it would not be practical to estimate the likely final capital cost. But he conceded the company whose shares were slashed by nearly 9 per cent yesterday losing 18c to $1. 86 in an otherwise strong market faced a major blow-out. He said: "It is now evident (the cost) will be significantly higher than the previous estimate which was in the vicinity of $520 million". Mr Richards who yesterday announced a net profit for the group for the June half-year of $48.

"I’m excited about this new assignment. " Ms. Boler-Davis a native of Romulus who has degrees in chemical engineering and engineering says she knows the Arlington plant mostly by reputation. She said that she realizes that the plant is considered one of GM’s best most efficient factories and that its full-size SUVs have fared well in quality surveys. "I know Arlington has a great reputation" she said. Her job will be to keep everyone focused on becoming even better she said. Competition in the full-size sport utility vehicle segment is ferocious with GM Ford Chrysler Toyota Lexus Nissan and Infiniti all fighting for sales in a flat market.
