The SAP Integration and Certification Center has certified that SmartPlant Enterprise for wner perators properly integrates with the SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (SAP NetWeaver XI) component of the SAP NetWeaver platform to exchange critical data with instances of the SAP Business Suite family of solutions and is integrated successfully with business functions exposed through the SAP NetWeaver Portal. SmartPlant Enterprise for wner perators will deliver preconfigured best practice work processes for plant operators. Plant Engineering Management of Change will be an important business package within the SmartPlant Enterprise for wner perators solutions facilitating the tracking of changes from the initial recommendation through the plant engineering review and approval process to final implementation providing a complete audit trail. Users will work seamlessly between SmartPlant Enterprise tools from Intergraph and SAP Service and Asset Management via a role-based instance of the SAP NetWeaver Portal. As-built changes will be automatically synchronized between SAP Service and Asset Management and SmartPlant Enterprise. “Interoperability requires openness which is why the achievement of Powered by SAP NetWeaver status of SmartPlant Enterprise for wner perators is an important milestone for Intergraph” said Patrick Holcomb executive vice president Intergraph Process Power & Marine. “This solution addresses the fundamental need for owner operators to achieve ongoing consistency between the ever-changing engineering design basis of a plant and the critical plant operations management systems like those that use SAP applications… As-built changes will be automatically synchronized between SAP Service and Asset Management and SmartPlant Enterprise. “Interoperability requires openness which is why the achievement of Powered by SAP NetWeaver status of SmartPlant Enterprise for wner perators is an important milestone for Intergraph” said Patrick Holcomb executive vice president Intergraph Process Power & Marine. “This solution addresses the fundamental need for owner operators to achieve ongoing consistency between the ever-changing engineering design basis of a plant and the critical plant operations management systems like those that use SAP applications. The initial plant software release will include business packages covering Management of Change Plant Maintenance browser Plant Engineering browser Plant Breakdown Structure and Tag Management Document Management and Conceptual Engineering.

Invasive plant mistaken breach

“You could come out here and every other line you’d cast would catch something. ”Laurel Lake’s “missing water” is a story of good intentions gone wrong an invasive plant spreading across the shoreline and the slow struggle to fix a dam breached to improve it. ‘Choking the lake’It’s beautiful at first glance but the purple flowering plant has caused a lot of problems for the more than 25 lakefront homeowners in the 100-plus-home Laurel Lake’s development. How the Laurel Lake Watershed Protection Association tried to get rid of it has been the biggest problem. Purple loosestrife is considered “highly invasive” by the National Parks Service. It grows quickly in wetland areas and can restrict native plant species as it spreads. Native to Europe and Asia the plant has now spread to every contiguous state except Florida… Just getting the water back is the priority now and the association will look at herbicides or other ways to remove growth in the lake once it’s filled again he said. Shumacher Engineering Inc. of Hazleton is expected to have design plans to repair the dam in the next few weeks. After plans are approved by the corps and DEP construction should begin before the year is up. “We’ve been saying it for a while but we’re real close” Nardone said. Laurel Lake is fed by streams mountain runoff and is a spillover lake for Lake Nuangola. nce a dam is in place the lake should fill in short period of time.

… Enterprise Software to Accelerate Projects and Improve Design…
businesswire.com – Jul 23, 2007
“We selected Intergraph’s solutions because they support our productivity requirements can integrate multidisciplinary data and reduce the time needed to create engineering designs. Additionally Intergraph provides the most complete solution available and its technology is trusted by the market inside and outside of Brazil” said Jorge Luis Menezes Braskem’s engineering manager. Because most plant improvement projects are made in real operating structures Braskem’s engineering team needed to simulate how the new design will interact with the existing plant layout. Braskem plans to perform an as-built plant survey by combining Intergraph’s PDS 3D modeling capabilities with laser scanning technology. “We plan to perform a laser scan of the plant to acquire an image of all of its physical objects. That image will become a 3D model which we will process through PDS to develop the project” explained Ivo Andrei Braskem’s piping specialist. Andrei said that Intergraph’s systems will reduce the time to design and construct new projects and will improve the overall quality of the projects resulting in better materials acquisition and fewer operational disruptions as well as facilitate future plant modifications.
